Below is a list of our frequently asked questions. If you do not see the answer to your question or need some clarification, please contact us and we’ll be happy to answer your question!
What should my child wear for class?
Our dress code ensures that students receive the best possible instruction, minimize injury, increase focus, and develop a strong sense of self-confidence and studio unity. All students should have hair secured, correct dance shoes, and form fitting athletic clothing. More information about our dress code can be found under each class description.

What are your term dates?
We offer a Nine and a half-month session that follows the school year calendar, running from September-June. However, we do offer Sessions including our Fall Session (Sept-Dec), Spring Session (Jan-June), and Summer Session (June-Aug). During the summer months we also offer camps and workshops.

Can we still join your classes after the term has started?
Yes, we accept new dancers through October 15th. We open Enrollment for our Winter Session in January.

Can parents watch?
Yes, all our studios have TV Monitors. Parents are welcome to stay and watch from the lobby.

How do I register for a class or classes?
Registration for new dancers and returning students can be completed via our parent portal online.
​
How do I pay my tuition?
Monthly tuition is due the 15th of each month. Automatic payments are charged to your credit card monthly. You are welcome to login to your parent portal to pay before tuition is due.

What forms of payments do you accept?
Upon registration, class tuition and registration fees are required to secure the account. Visa, MasterCard, Cash and Checks are accepted for payment. Tuition is charged on the 15th of the month to a card you have on file. If you are paying by cash or check, please make sure you do so by the 14th to the front desk.

Are your teachers qualified?
All the teachers at Starr Dance have years of teaching experience or College Degrees in Dance. See our Staff page to learn more about our incredible instructors.

Do you have recitals or showcases?
Yes! We have one year-end recital at the end of our dance season in June! Stay tuned to our monthly newsletters for more information!

How do I schedule a free trial class?
You may request a free trial class any time by calling 815-725-1150 or email us at starrdance1@gmail.com

Do you sell shoes and dancewear?
We do not. We recommend Dance N’ Tee’s: 3124 Illinois Rte 59, Naperville, IL 60564 or www.discountdance.com

How do I drop or withdraw from the studio?
To drop a class or all classes, the account holder must email our front desk with a 30-day advance notice to drop: starrdance1@gmail.com. Failure to notify us before 30 days, you are responsible for the next tuition payment.

What’s the earliest age a dancer can start?
Our Creative Movement class is an
introductory dance class starting at 2 years old.

How do I know which class to enroll my child in?
Dancers ages 2 through 6 years are placed in classes based on their age and age 7 and up by skill level.

Are there any other expenses outside of tuition?
There is an annual registration fee, costume fee, and recital fee.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes, we offer a 10% discount on monthly tuition for enrolling more than 1 child into a class. You will also receive a discount on registration fees.
If my child wants to take more than one class do you offer a discount?
Yes, we offer a multi-class discount.

How do I make up missed classes?
Please note we do not credit tuition for missed classes, however, we encourage your student to take advantage of our make up policy! If they miss any classes throughout the month, they can make it up within 4 weeks in any class, as long as it is in their level and age group. You do not need to schedule this with us, just come as you please!
Studio Closure/Weather Policy
Starr Dance abides by the Troy School District for severe weather closures. If Troy 30 announces school closure due to weather, Starr Dance will also be closed for all classes on that day. We will inform all families via email or text, website, and social media as well as on our voicemail.

My dancer is older and has no dance experience, are there classes for him/her?
We have classes for students of all ages and ability levels. Please contact us so we can help identify where the best place to start is.

Covid Policy?
First and foremost, if you or someone in your family is sick or has been exposed to Covid stay home. Masks are optional at our studio.
